Chris Cantell annouces The Character of Charmin Ads Dies

Some actors consider the commercial business their last option, for some it is a sign of lack of money, some make most of their career in it. That is the case of "Mr. Whipple", one of the most famous characters in American advertising, who died this week at the age of 91. Everybody knew the face, everybody knew the slogans, and no matter if considered silly or not, we all must admit they were catchy. 500 commercials for toilet paper is quite a load, and although Dick Wilson had appeared in many movies and TV Shows, he'll be remembered in people's minds as the author of: "Ladies, please don't squeeze the Charmin!" Mr. Dick Wilson had his own way of coping with the rather embarrassing topics of the TV ads: "What are you going to say about toilet paper? I think we handle it the best way we can." (http://www.latimes.com/news/printedition/california/la-me-wilson20nov20,1,1733059.story?coll=la-headlines-pe-california). Commercial business, after all, is a part of the popular culture, and as his daughter stated after his death: "He is a part of the culture. He was funny till the very end".

Chris Cantell annouces Opera priamo do vasich usi

Mnohym ludom slovo "opera" evokuje zmiesane pocity, spojene s tmavym divadlom, zivajucim manzelom a styrmi hodinami plnymi skriekajucich Talianov v nafuknutych robach. Prirodzene, nie vsetci sme milovnikmi kazdeho druhu umenia. Fungujuca Academy of Music zastupena najvyssimi a najbohatsimi kruhmi, nebola prilis nadsena z akceptovania novych clenov do svojich radov. Tito spevaci sa rozhodli vytvorit novu skupinu, v ktorej boli talenty vitane a ktora coskoro predcila Academy. Metropolitan Opera, dnes znama ako MET, zacala pisat svoju uspesnu historiu uvedenim hry Faust, 22 Oktobra 1883. Na konci 19teho storocia znamenal vznik novej, modernej vlny nahly pokrok. Podobnu senzaciu vyvolal novy projekt MET a spolocnosti Rhapsody. Tie len nedavno zverejnili spustenie novej objednavkovej digitalnej hudobnej sluzby. Ta umoznuje zakupenie stoviek opernych diel z rokov 1937 az 2006 z pohodlia vaseho domu.

Chris Cantell annouces Internet ads

Greg Sterling, principal analyst at Sterling Market Intelligence, states that the Internet is the new TV and more and more people used it as an alternative. Broadcasters and publishers are therefore interested in creating ads for the Internet. Google is the giant in the online advertising, however there are others making significant changes too. AOL has just launched a new type of Internet ad replacing the prerolls that are so despite by Internet users. The type is new for AOL, but it is already used by BrightCove and YouTube with an interactive advertising system. The new thicker ad is integrated within a streaming video but does not obstruct viewing and it has been developed in conjunction with PointRoll. In addition to its introduction AOL also released a revamped media player platform that introduces several new social features and a new development framework. Curt Viebranz, president of AOL's Platform-A said that ads will run across the AOL Network of video content within the newest version of the AOL Video media player platform and it will smooth the dialogue with consumers by making it active. How it works? AOL's video ticker ad appears at the bottom of the video player 10 seconds into the video stream. If the user clicks it a video ad or an interactive Flash ad within the video player window will be launched. Sterling says that this way it is easier for the users who just have to click the tick, while the burden falls on the marketer due to the fact that a fuller ad that sits behind the ticker. It's a sure thing that video ads have a promising future. TNS Research made a survey revealing that 78 percent of respondents consider online video ads to provide just like TV a mean of learning about an advertiser, while 64 percent had taken some action after seeing an online video ad. Hence all this pleaded in favor of online video ads, more changes and innovations are expected to take place. Sit back and enjoy!

Universal park in Hwaseong

Developers of a Universal Studios theme park and resort in South Korea decided to build the Universal Park. In the city of Hwaseong in Gyeonggi province, which is located 20 minutes south of Seoul and close to main international airport in Incheon, will be this $3.1billion project situated. This new park will have 4.7 million squares meters and should bring more than 10 millions visitors every year. South Korea's Gyeonggi province and partners for this project said that plans will be completed by the spring of 2012 and that 58,000 new jobs would be brought. South Korea has about 50 million people and nearly half of them can drive to the city of Hwaseong under one hour time. They can find there hotels, golf courses and many places which can entertain them all days and nights. This project would be the biggest investment ever Universal Studios theme park made. And at the time of opening would be the largest in physical size internationally for Universal. Thomas L. Williams, the chairman of Universal Parks & Resorts visited the side in early November and his colleague, USK Property's president Frank P. Stanek said that this project is real and will proceed successfully. Gyeonggi government and population hoped that this huge project will bring to their country enormous cultural and economic effects.

The Importance of Helmet in Rodeo

Everyone know how dangerous sport rodeo is. Many of us are questioning why do all those people risk their lives? Because of the passion? Because of the danger during the ride, riders should wear some protective clothes. Very important thing has became a helmet. Some riders don't wear helmet, because they want to look good in their cowboy shoes, jeans, shirt and hat. But there certainly is a moment when everyone reevaluates decision whether to put helmet on or not. "I would never put one on because I wanted to look like a cowboy, with my boots, long-sleeved shirt and cowboy hat. Now I don't think I'd get on without one," said Justin Koon after skull fracture injury caused by the rodeo riding. B. J. Schumacher or J. B. Mauney are professional rodeo riders who wear their helmets. The percentage of getting hurt is too high. Rodeo riders hurt about 10 times more than football or hockey players. Former bull-riding champion Cody Lambert said: "I've had some really good friends die in this sport, but I didn't have to lose friends to understand this sport and how dangerous it is. Just because you have a helmet or vest or a pair of chaps, you can still die out there." Cody Lambert was a vitness of his friends death and this was an impuls to design a special vest which protects body. The vest is filled with foam and is required by some rodeo associations. It reduces the impact of fall or jog of a bull horn.

Care about them

Animals should be our friends, someone who is still in your house, wait for you to come back from work, be with you when everyone else is gone. They love us; we are something like heroes and only families for them. So that's why we should care about them, love them back and protect them. Lots of people do it like this. But there should be more. Many people don't think the same. Animals are nothing for them. After a while they are not so excited about them, no more interested. It was only a short joy for them or for their kids. They stop to care about them, what can cause even the death of the animal. In the States there is a new problem. Lots of people have problem with mortgages and paying for their houses, so they have to go away, and very often they leave their pets locked in empty houses. Sometimes they have no other choice; animals are not allowed in their new homes. I can understand that loosing home is very hard and it makes more problems, but every time they have enough time to give that animal to someone else or just bring it to special place for lonely animals. Would they leave there one of their children, because they have too many of them??? Never. So why they can't care about that animal? I think the law should be stronger for all the people who are treating animals like this. What is it about? Does it make them feel happy? Don't they have enough place on this planet?? I hope one day will people wake up and start think like a real human.

A Good Helper

SigEx Telecom is the natural and necessary complement of existing social networks. The main task of the company is connecting people together. Users are allowed to view, download and share video, make multiple phone calls. The company fills a clear gap between being connected and interacting as well as bringing together various means of communicating. Advanced SMS and cheap international phone calls are at the beginning and it continues with high definition video rooms. SigEx Telecom allows its users for multiple phone calls, which can be made through the Internet. It has its users in many countries all over the world. Interesting news come from Nokia. This company is coming with a new cell phone application. This could be a good helper not only for SigEx users. It is a free subscription navigation service. It has GPS integrated. It is not only a map but also a built-in compass that is integrated in user's cell phone. Interesting attribute of this application is that, when a user will rotate the phone, the map will rotate as well to show what is he looking at. Small chip inside the phone enables an additional compass function to the accelerometer. Users of this usable helper should not get lost anymore. This software provides interfaces of programing that make possible not only access to location of user but also direction that he or she is facing. This application will become more common in close future. Why not? It is easer to travel with map and navigation in the phone than with a paper map.

SigEx Ventures : Investors are becoming increasingly interested in green technology
by Corina Ciubotaru

As climate change becomes a reality we are all responsible for, and governments start raising awareness, venture capital investors seem to be increasingly attracted to clean tech. In 2006, $2.9 billion were invested in this field in the US, compared to $1.6 billion in 2005, and a big part of this money went into energy-related ventures. This figure increased by nearly 60% in the first quarter of 2007 making the clean tech venture market the third most significant after biotechnology and software. GE was a big investor in clean tech in recent times; in the beginning of the year, they invested in a company that researches batteries for hybrid vehicles, and the American giant probably won’t stop here, aiming to invest $4 billion in renewable energy by 2010. Other companies have also announced they want to join the race: Citigroup is willing to invest $50 billion in the next ten years in companies that address climate change issues, while Bank of America intends to invest $20 billion in the same area. In Europe, the level of investment is significantly lower and it’s decreased in 2006 compared to the previous year. What should concern European leaders even more is that not only are they significantly behind the US when it comes to investments, but that the Americans have invested more in European ventures than the actual people benefiting from them. Part of this problem is due to insufficient state involvement in the issue, but some potential investors consider that there aren’t enough opportunities for them in Europe.

SigEx Ventures : Private equity companies going public
by Ioana Madalina Tantareanu

As a result of the tech-bubble bear market, most asset classes outside of U.S. large cap stocks, U.S. government securities, and municipal debt have been deemed "non-traditional" or "alternative" in some way.One of the biggest beneficiaries of this trend was private equity and the investors have flooded firms such as Blackstone and KKR with cash.Opportunities in the marketplace are researched by private equity. They are different from the standard stock analysis, which tends to focus on relatively arbitrary quarterly earnings per share estimates, because they analyze companies to determine whether the lines of business are worth more together or apart and they try to find unexploited opportunities. Richard Gere's character in "Pretty woman movie" would be the personification of today's "private equity." There are many options in having and managing a company. Sometimes it`s the best thing to do to tear the company apart and sell it, but sometimes you may leave it whole and shake up the business model.Going public doesn't necessarily take away these company`a flexibility.Warren Buffet's company Berkshire Hathaway has as it`s core business insurances.Geico and General Re are some of the primary lines of business. This hasn`t stopped Berkshire Hathaway from investing in, or acquiring, a host of other companies, like companies from high-tech electronics to making candy. Investors buy shares of the holding company, not the private equity subsidiary, refering to taking the private out of private equity. These will be publicly traded companies who engage in private equity portfolio management as their primary line of business, in order to cash in on the recent boom and successes and to provide liquidity for the firm's shareholders.

SigEx Ventures : Private equity picking up steam
by Delia Cruceru

Although market commentators said that New Zealand’s global buyout is going down, in here the private equity activity is blooming. This year the many deals regarding private equity firms like Yellow Pages and MediaWorks have been transacted. Corporate raider Carl Icahn said “the global boom has reached its peaked” and Blackstone Group, Kravis, Kohlberg, Roberts (KKR) and Carlyle Group capable of paying high prices are waiting for better offers and deals. Paul Chrystal, head of private equity from Goldman Sachs JBWere said that in New Zealand assets are becoming very expensive: “not all people paying high prices are overpaying, but if they are, there's always more risk that they will have a difficult time later. I don't think there's any serious investors in the private equity market who haven't felt the pressure of prices, are worried by it, and are probably more cautious." AMP Capital Investor’s boss says "base interest rates and risk spreads are rising. While we'd seen private equity interest, we hadn't seen transactions on the smaller part of the market. That's clearly changed with Tourism Holdings and MediaWorks.” Chief economist and head of investment strategy of AMP Capital Investors says the boom in the private equity takeover activity will get bigger and will have positive effects.

by Corina Ciubotaru

DRM, which stands for Digital Rights Management, is a term that describes the actions a person, usually producers, can take in order to protect their digital work from being distributed without prior authorization. In other words, without DRM, the music, movies etc of the world could be distributed to interested audiences only under copyright restrictions. Some of the most common places where one is likely to find DRM in use are DVDs, audio CDs and the Apple iTunes Music store. DVDs first started being protected in 1996 and these discs could only be played in devices selected by the DVD Forum; manufacturers had to sign an agreement with the Forum which subsequently enabled them to use certain features needed to play the discs in their devices. This practice ended in 1999 when a well known hacker called Jon Lech Johansen released the DeCSS software which allowed DVDs to be properly played on computers using Linux. Audio CD buyers had several problems with the DRM because not all accepted players could actually play the music and some CDs from Sony also contained a rootkit which, after playing the disc, made computers vulnerable to outside attacks. A few years and some lawsuits later, the DRM era on CDs ended in 2007, when EMI announced it would no longer publish discs with DRM. DRM is like copyright, but stronger and more restrictive, because it only allows files to be played on the devices that producers agree with. Although it may sound like a good deal for producers, it’s really the consumers that suffer with the use of the DRM system.
